Embroidered Patches

Embroidered patches are mainly used to brand the outside of garments, School or bags, rather than used on the inside of garments, like woven or printed labels.

What’s the difference between embroidered patches and woven labels?

Woven labels are all threads woven together on a loom. Embroidered patches are threads embroidered onto a substrate, most typically cotton canvas with an embroidery machine. Embroidery doesn’t allow for the same amount of detail aswoven apparel labels do, since the thread is much thicker and it’s embroidered onto a stiff substrate.

Embroidered patches are generally used on the outside of garments or items like a patch, and it’s rarely used as the main label inside a garment, like a woven label.

Colors

The canvas backgrounds come in multitudes of colors; however, PantoneTM colors cannot be matched exactly. They will be matched as close as possible.

Embroidery threads are matched to PantoneTM colors and can be matched very closely, although not exact.

The prices for embroidered patches depend on the size, how much surface are of the patch is embroidered, whether there is over lock stitching or not, and if the patch has heat adhesive on the back.

Woven Patches

If you don’t like the look of embroidered patches, or want a more detailed patch, woven patches are a great option. Woven patches are produced just like woven labels, but are usually die cut to shape and have a felt backing. Woven Patches can be sewn on or ironed on. You can also have over-lock stitching on woven patches.

Woven patches are generally less expensive than embroidered patches, and are faster to produce. But if you are looking for that embroidered look, woven patches might not work for your needs.
